Pangphu Monastery, Tibet
A big "Thank You!" to all of you for your support in coming out to the Pangphu Monastery Fund Raising Dinner at Apple Lane Restaurant on Aug. 12th., 2007. It was a most wonderful and happy evening, with a total of 74 people in attendance. Nancy and Ben Chow of the Apple Lane Restaurant had outdone themselves yet again, in preparing and serving us the most delicious and various dishes of Cantonese cuisine.

I am also most gratified by your support in the Silent Auction; all the books, artwork, and jewellery have gone to wonderful new homes. And I think everyone present enjoyed the slide presentation of our recent Spring trip to Shangri-La in Yunnan province in China.

Thank you to Deb Leroux of Harris Flowers for the donated gift basket, making up the 2 beautiful floral arrangements, and in helping with the ticket sales.

Thank you to Cara Brady and the Editor of the Vernon Morning Star newspaper, in publishing the timely articles on Lama Rabten and his aspirations, resulting in higher public awareness of the plight of the monks at Pangphu Monastery. The publicity generated by your newspaper has certainly helped our cause.

With the $600.00 raised from the Silent Auction, $1,110.00 from the dinner tickets, $200.00 cash donation from Nancy and Ben Chow, and $60.00 from other individuals at the dinner, we generated a total of $1,970.00 from the evening's activities.

Thank you also to those of you who came to Lama Rabten's evening talk on Tibetan Buddhism on Aug. 14th. 2007. Special kudos to Mari Cameron in helping us with the organisation of the venue, getting all the different local Buddhist groups and the public to come together for the evening. We had collected $412.00 in donations from the 30 people in attendance. The energy in the space was most amazing and palpable to me the whole evening. I personally have gained a lot of insights from Lama Rabten's teachings.

On behalf of Lama Rabten, my daughter Christine, my husband Ghee, myself and especially all the monks at the Pangphu Monastery in Tibet, we thank you all most gratefully from the bottom of our hearts, for your kindness, compassion and generosity in extending your helping hands and support.

We hope to make this into an annual event in Vernon, as Lama Rabten has made helping the monks at the Pangphu Monastery his life long commitment. And so have I.
